ANYWAY. Upon missioning down some side street we came upon Ben Hayward Cycles! My saviour! It was actually their workshop, not official shop, which was even better, perfect! That was where I saw him, racked up on the wall, I knew straight away he was MINE. AND a £40 bargain! This was obviously due to the bike being a “fixer upper”. I should mention here that the nice people at Ben Hayward’s overhaul bikes and then sell them in good working condition as well and also do services at excellent rates. They were also more than helpful and very patient! Special thanks extended to Ben Hayward Cycles of Cambridge!
I know what you’re thinking, what’s all this got to with the bike? Well you wanted the full story and I wanted to include you in the journey from start to finish. SO that’s what’s happening.
Oh oh, I have to show you this as well! This is a bridge in Cambridge that is a replica of a famous one in Venice called the ‘Sigh Bridge’ where criminals would be led over from their quarters on their way to be executed and it would show them one of the most beautiful views in Venice that they would sigh at the beauty of knowing it would be the last thing they saw. Sad … but interesting!
Ok, for those of you who haven’t been to Cambridge before I’ll just quickly set the scene with a couple of photo’s so you can see the perfect picturesque setting of where the bike of my life was found.
We obviously went punting!

Hey, no worries, I’m seeing you started a new school or something recently so you’re obviously going to be busy!
Thanks, it looks a bit like i’m some nutjob that’s totally obsessed with bikes and comics but it’s a fun project for a bit and to save all my mates asking about it all the time I started a blog so it’d be easy for them to follow the progress! I’ll start another one soon that has my work on it etc that I’ll hopefully post on hitRECord in the next week so you’ll probably see it come up. Yeah, it’s such a cool site, you were literally the first person I clicked on when I signed up so I checked out your tumblr! It’s refreshing to read your posts when they come up on my feed after just tons and tons of random images, what’s the deal with everyone just putting crazy amounts of pictures up and no words?? I’m still getting the hang of it.
Anyway thanks so much for your reply :) hope you’re enjoying school! It seems like an early start with it still being August? or maybe it’s just different in your country!
Becky :)
